do you like time travel??? paradoxes???? meta humor???? interesting, unique, and relatable characters????? silly and lighthearted moments???? serious and emotional moments???? a story that you play and watch as much as you read?????

then you should read homestuck!!!!!!

jan misalis video talks about the sburb game mechanics, typing quirks, the hemospectrum, and a some of the other elements of homestuck so you should really go there for information on those.

but one of my favorite parts of homestuck has to be the time shenanigans.

[MINOR "SPOILERS" BUT NOT FOR MAIN PLOT] take, for example, these bunnies.

each of these are gifts that john recieves for his birthday. the first one is from the movie "con air" and was given to him by dave. the second is a family heirloom from rose, which she knitted some parts for. and the third is another heirloom from jade, which went through further time travel shenanigans to get all decked out in cool tech.

but guess what, theyre all the same bunny!! when john is in an ectobiology lab with baby versions of himself and his friends (long story) he gifts some of them with a bunny. so rose gets the con air bunny (that she will later knit parts for and gift back to john)

and jade gets the knitted bunny (that she will change and regift to john as well!)

so at one point in time john had three different iterations of the same bunny, which obviously is not possible in the real world but is the kind of time paradox-thingy that shows up a lot in homestuck that i think is super cool!!!!

another time paradox thing is this conversation that karkat has with himself. (if you dont want to read all the feelings and stuff just skip to this panel, this panel then this panel.)

another of my favorite parts is the ending of act 5. specifically, the way its formatted is sooooo cool!! ive never seen anything like it.

[SPOILERS] beginning on page 3764 the reader ends up in doc scratchs office, which changes the formatting of the page to be green with white text, and include a header (showing doc scratchs office).

it starts off with doc scratch explaining what happens with vriska and terezi (side note -- vriska and terezis relationship is SO COOL?!?!?! one of my favorites for sure)

but then, doc scratch "steps away" from role of the narrator, and the plot is now split in two! in the header, we see doc scratch and whats happening with him in his office. and in the main panel we see whats happening with vriska and terezi!

occasionally itll switch to a view like this! (notice jack in the header pouring gasoline everwhere? lol)

another warning for [MAJOR SPOILERS] but after vriska dies we see her last pesterlog, to john. the plot splits AGAIN so now there is a story in the header (doc scratchs office) a story in the main panel (john pov) AND a story in the pesterlogs! (vriska pov)

the povs switch around a bit, but at one point part of the text is viewed by hovering your mouse over the header!

check out the this cool big mouse hover text!

thats pretty much the end of what i want to share, i found the formatting of these panels to be so cool!!!!!!! its obviously best enjoyed when you know what the heck is happening with the plot, but its just so interesting.
